Due for release on May the 31st is a fascinating book called The Deep Ark by a mysterious collective called The Arkonauts. The book features photographs, artworks and writings heavily influenced by the music of Aphex Twin and his contemporaries from the early to mid 90s. The lead creator behind this project, The Arkitekt writes: “it tells the story of nocturnal adventures in the wild corners of the city and the people, places and music that accompanied them”.
When asked what genre the book came under the The Arkitekt said: “Its like a kind of nostalgic psychedelic folk history, an exercise in communal myth making.” The book’s release will be accompanied by an eight hour mix of music curated by The Arkitekt, music that soundtracked The Arkonauts psychedelic experiences, tracks created by musicians such as Aphex that served as the primary motivation behind this creative endeavour.
